What it is
Root & Render Objects is the physical-making branch of the studio: a place for things that need to exist somewhere beyond a screen.
That still includes rescuing overlooked furniture, repairing what matters, and transforming each piece into singular functional art — but the workshop is broader than furniture. Props, wearable cosplay pieces, masks, costume structures, puppetry and mechanisms, practical effects, and animatronic experiments all belong here too.
The common thread is fabrication with a story or purpose behind it: objects that can be held, worn, moved, performed with, displayed, or given another life.
The workshop
Furniture follows the familiar rhythm:
Rescue. Repair. Reimagine. Return.
Other builds may begin from foam, wood, fabric, electronics, servos, linkages, found materials, 3D-printed parts, paint, or whatever combination the idea requires.
The workshop can therefore move between restoration and fabrication: a forgotten table one week, a creature mask the next, a moving prop or functional cosplay mechanism after that.
Storytelling through objects
Physical builds can stand alone, but they can also become part of Root & Render’s larger worlds. A Department prop can become an artifact. A StoryKeeper costume can become a character. An animatronic or wearable mechanism can become part of a performance rather than merely a display piece.
That makes Objects both a making practice and a practical-effects workshop for the studio’s transmedia work.
Current direction
The furniture collection remains the established commercial/archive side of Objects while the workshop expands into props, cosplay fabrication, practical mechanisms, and animatronic experiments. Early exploratory builds — including functional creature and character cosplay — can live here as the skills and toolset grow.
